***SHE*** at Cool Scrapbook Stuff

brand new workshop at a brand new store! well, the store is brand new to me. this will be my first time teaching at cool scrapbook stuff in poway, ca. i just visited the store and met the owner gena and one of her associates bonnie. great store with lots of goodies and great ladies! the album is on site and ready for viewing. in the meantime, here's a little teaser for y'all!

this saturday @ ever after

just a reminder - i'll be teaching this saturday at ever after. the workshop is titled "just so you know". in this workshop, you will learn various techniques for journaling and mixed media [stamping, inking, painting, collage]. you'll work with a 4x6 rusty pickle husk album [20 pages] - we'll alter 14+ and you'll receive a complete 12x12 sheet of chipboard embellishments and a sheet of typographical elements designed for this class only by me. the workshop runs from 10am to 1pm. call ever after today to reserve your spot or to purchase a kit. 760-433-9313

 

april 20th

i'm sitting here working on some photographs at the computer with patsy cline on the ipod and from time to time i glance out of my studio window at the rain pouring down. it's a bit cold and gloomy but nice. we so very rarely get rain at this time of the year so it's a nice change. with the chill, the low light and me humming along to patsy, i'm feeling - inspired.

here's one of the photos i took over the weekend of tate. one in true color and one tinted. i can't decide which i prefer - the true color or the warm sepia tone.

giada de laurentiis - everyday italian - i've tried some of her recipes and they are heaven.

this is just a quick little post on some things that are inspiring me right now. tomorrow, it might be a a new cd, a photograph, the view from my studio window, my children's conversations. it's amazing how we are surrounded by beautiful things and we just overlook them. so for today, take time to really look and listen to your surroundings. you will be surprised at what you find.

here's a quick peek at a brand new workshop that i'm teaching. the album used is a rusty pickle 4x6 spiral bound album and the patterned papers are a combination of rusty pickle papers - abstract and princess bride. within the album you'll find library pockets, pull-outs, office supply envelopes, punches, stamps, ink, acrylics and a few more surprises.

supplies to bring with you:

black ink [palette noir], brown ink [fluid chalk dark brown], adhesives [modge podge, tape runner, 3D foam pop dots], stapler, 2 foam brushes, acyrlic brushes varying sizes [flat 2, 6, and 8 round 6], scissors, exacto, self healing mat, paper trimmer, dymo tape writer.

stamps we'll be using:

rusty pickle princess bride stamps, rusty pickle old macdonald alpha stamps, EK success old typewriter alpha stamps, catslife press stamps, paper source stamps.

our morning began with waking to find that the easter bunny had indeed visited our home. we all scurried to the living room to find baskets brimming with soft pastel colored eggs and little hidden surprises. connor spotted more eggs in front of our home. the children bellowed with laughter. "silly easter bunny. he dropped eggs out front momma!"

me and my sweet boy had the chance to just hang out. it's so rare for us to have some alone time. we played - watercolored - jumped on the trampoline - and of course i had to take some quick shots of him sporting his new 'do. he was so funny!

fly boy - the kids love to do "peter pan" flying on my feet especially when we're on the trampoline.

...and here's one that my boy took of me. not bad - he has a good eye!
