my journal is complete. i used a punky sprouts album - the rebel sprout album - along with the mls oasis paper collection. here's a sneak peek of the cover. the lighting was horrible today so i'll take more photos tomorrow. check back!

a little mixed media play

today. i'm working on a new project for punky sprouts using their rebel album and the oasis paper collection by MLS. love the oasis paper. it's japanese inspired with little geishas, lanterns & cherry blossoms. it's a work in progress. here are some sneak peeks. check back for the complete look.

12 Days of Christmas - Day One

it doesn't quite feel like Christmas. maybe it's the warm weather. the lack of shopping choices. no infamous black friday deals. the gathering of family and lifetime friends. so to help get me in the mood... and to help entertain my kiddos over winter break, i'm working on crafty and/or edible treats. and... for the next 12 days, i will feature something crafty, something edible or something beautiful. visit each day to see what i share.

1. 3191 - stephanie and mav. they live 3191 miles apart and each day they snap a photo and share it for all to see. they also have a published books the latest - a year of mornings. love their story. love their friendship. love their site. love their photographs.

2. hula seventy - by andrea jenkins. i've been an admirer of this blog for a few years. love photobooths. love the photos more. love polaroids. miss them dearly. andrea features them all here. simply... lovely.

3. duckduckblog - john, ally & matt (a collective of photographers & filmmakers). funky vibe with a fresh perspective. they seem to do it all here. design, film and photography. and in my beloved home state... virginia.

new altered journal *vintage car*

talk about enjoying the process. i have so enjoyed working on this little baby. i started with a blank journal manufactured by punky sprouts and a gentlemen's paper line by graphic 45. something about the cars intrigued me. the lines. the fact that they are indeed vintage. you know me... i'm a sucker for anything vintage.

well... almost anything. *wink*

it took about two days. i used a little of this and that.

more specifically... acrylic paints. distressed crackle paints by tim holtz. alcohol inks by tim holtz. glimmer mists by tattered angels. i'm *in love* with their glimmer mists. they need to make a body safe version. *wink* modge podge matte. how could i eva live without my modge podge? i just don't know. beacon's adhesive glue. vintage dictionary (from... ahem, the *boutique*). vintage typewriter's manual (boutique). patterned paper and overlays by hambly screen prints. my sewing machine which is a bit mad at me. yes. i tried to sew on chipboard. it didn't work and i don't recommend trying it. well... at least not with that weight of chipboard. maybe something thinner. my ever so lovely most favorite pen - black sakura gelly med point. did you get how much i just *love* sakura gelly pens? well i love love love sakura gelly pens. i think that's it. oh... almost forgot. vintage flocked gold wallpaper (purchased off of etsy). i'd like the inside of my casket to be lined with that lovely plushy gold paper. just heavenly.

one of my favs. the little drawing at the bottom running horizontally reminds me of eucalyptus. this is a canvas page so the sewing machine worked. yay!

this was the first piece i completed. yes, i work out of order. something about that car grabbed my attention.

 

loose contour drawing. and this could be a great illustration for "how to enter an automobile for dummies".

now, i just need to add some journaling. that will be another day. not sure what i'll write in this one. i usually write around a theme. i don't collect cars... obviously. couldn't you see me just transporting them from base to base. let's see. maybe... places i'd like to visit.

punky sprouts album... a work in progress

working on the first of three mixed media albums. the albums themselves are made by punky sprouts. punky sprouts is an eco-friendly company who manufacturers albums using chipboard made of 100% recycled paper and canvas that is 100% cotton.

i'm honored and excited to be part of their amazingly talented design team. one of the perks on being on a design team... you receive their wonderful products. here is a peek at the goodies sent to me by punky sprouts. they work with other manufacturers like graphic 45, my little shoebox and zapdots so i received some goodies from them too. *sweet*
